One weekend dedicated to rugby like no other.  Teams face off on a pitch for an exhibition of skilled rugby battles, bruises and beer; three day celebration of rugby history and its future.

The 42^nd annual Edmonton Rugbyfest is set to kick off at Ellerslie Rugby Park on Friday May 21^st.  Rugby fest is a collaborative tournament hosted by Edmonton’s local Rugby community that promotes the sport and culture of Rugby.  Since its inception in 1968 Rugbyfest has attracted teams not only from Alberta but also from all over North America and the world.  In previous years Rugbyfest has been an international host to teams from Idaho, Montana, California, Connecticut, Ireland and Scotland.

This one of a kind tournament will feature competitive hard hitting action with a 10’s tournament for the Men and Old boys, 7’s tournament for the women

This year Rugbyfest‘s festivities has a Latin theme.

Gladiator Games: Teams of 4 people $20.00 per team to enter.  Games will consist of Jousting, obstacle course, and much more. Prizes and swag to the winners

Friday, May 21 – Welcome Bash takes place at the Ellerslie Rugby Park.  A great way to mingle with those you may battle on the pitch. 2 free kegs (begins when doors open) and Great live Music. Ellerslie will be hosting the Friday night social so come dressed in you best Toga.  

Saturday, May 22 – the day begins early, with games scheduled throughout the day.  It doesn’t end there.  This year we are adding Gladiator Games. 

Sunday, May 23 – Games scheduled from 9-1 followed by a feature game.  In true Rugbyfest tradition, the schedule events end with the Festival in the Park.  BBQ and Souvenier mug.

Tournament format for Mens and Womans

Each team will play 4 games in their pools

Men and Women

• Teams will play in a round robin pool format
• Teams will score 2 points for a win, 1 point for a tie and 0 points for a loss.
• The top teams from each pool will play each other in the Finals on Sunday.

Old Boys

• To be determined. Information to be available at Ellerslie on Saturday.
